Dissolve Your Worries
Let your shoulders drop, relax in zero gravity chairs, and breathe in pink Himalayan salt, known for its healing properties and calming effects. Celebrating their one year anniversary in Santa Barbara, SALT offers sessions in two caves. The larger cave fits up to 18 people and runs on the hour. The smaller cave seats 6 and can be rented out for private sessions ($150). Guests wear street clothes, with bare feet or booties. Halo generators pump dry aerosol microparticles of salt into the air to improve respiratory and immune systems.
In a typical 45-minute session ($25 per person), you’ll enter a dimly lit cave and recline into comfortable loungers, while relaxing to Solfège music and taking in the healing salt. “Himalayan salt’s minerals exist in a colloidal form, making them tiny enough for our cells to easily absorb,” says co-owner Pamela McCaskey. Known mostly for its benefits at relieving respiratory illnesses such as asthma, sinusitis and bronchitis, Himalayan salt alleviates swelling, and are full of anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti mucosal properties. Himalayan salt also releases negative ions, which increase serotonin levels, thus leaving you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Other treatments include a 15-minute salt scrub followed by a shower and hour-long Swedish or deep tissue massage (from $135).
